About VRM mod
VRM was our first ever release! Since its launch it evolved a lot – experimenting with balance turned out to be a great way of exploring each species’ capabilities and having fun testing them out on the battlefield. Over the years VRM was played both in casual games and in team matches – take a look at the video section below!
VRM (Vanilla Rebalance Mod) – overview
VRM is a rebalance mod for both Single Player and Multiplayer (compatible with MSP 2.4), it also fixes annoying bugs. Enemies in Single Player are more dangerous and aggressive, especially Aliens, Predators use different equipment during fights. Multiplayer was made with the League rules in mind, cheap weapons are either unavailable or changed so that they actually require some skill to use effectively.

What does the VRM mod change?
Below you will find all changes (compared to vanilla, not previous versions) divided per species/gamemode they refer to. No info about something means it’s the same as in vanilla. List of terms used in this descriptions:
- ACC – accuracy
- AP – armor piercing
- DMG – damage
- FR – fire rate
- MP – Multiplayer
- RNG – weapon range
- SP – Single Player
- SPD – projectile speed
- “+” – value increased e.g. +ACC means better accuracy, DMG +25% means damage increased by 25%
- “-” – value decreased
Multiple Species
- DMG modifier to hands and feet increased to -25% (from -50%)
- Modified idle animations, less movement
- Better durability of corpses (for Alien regeneration)
- Camera adjustments
- Moving around in crouch no longer protects the head from damage
- Many new MP taunts, mostly for humans
Aliens
- Claws of 4 standard Aliens – +ACC for reliable headshots at close distance, -DMG also -RNG for Predalien and Praetorian Claws (same range as Drone and Runner because of +ACC)
- Tails of 4 standard Aliens – +ACC to stop ghosting at max range, less confusing attack animation (vanilla makes it look like there is a 0.2s delay before the tail hits the target, but actually there isn’t)
- Pounce – removed the “lag” after pounce (200ms), you can attack as soon as the claws disappear after the pounce
- Queen claws – +ACC, DMG 100>75
- Headbite – removed to allow quick, reliable claw attacks to the head without the slow headbite animation interrupting them
- Quicker health regeneration by clawing corpses
- Workaround for aliens waving their tails while standing and crouching in ambush with the tail charged

Humans
- Knife – DMG 20>54, +ACC, two slashes to cut through the net
- Pistol Alt Rounds – DMG 55>45, same ACC as Pulse Rifle, no AP, ammo: pickups – 12
- Shotgun Shells – ammo: all pickups – 6
- Shotgun Slugs – 100% ACC
- Pulse Rifle – RNG x2, no stagger in SP and MP
- Pulse Rifle Grenades – direct DMG 50>75 so that 100/200 humans always die on direct hits to the legs, ammo: pickups – 1, max – 4, 100% ACC
- Timed Grenades – ammo: max – 6
- Proximity Grenades – ammo: max – 6
- EMP Grenades – ammo: spawn – 6, max – 6, all species get stunned (and decloaked if pred) for 0.8s
- Spider Grenades – ammo: max – 6
- Flamethrower – DMG 20>21, FR 0.133>0.078, you can set yourself on fire, no attack delay
- Smartgun – real ammo count is shown
- Rockets – direct DMG 50>850 ammo: spawn – 3, pickups – 1, max – 5, reload after each shot, 100% ACC
- Tracking Rockets – direct DMG 50>850, ammo: pickups – 1, max – 5, reload after each shot, 100% ACC, can be dodged
- Minigun – DMG 50>30, RNG x2, real ammo count is shown
- Sniper Rifle – DMG 400>300, ammo: spawn – 5, FR 1.020>2, scope is more transparent around the middle
- Exosuit – Laser: 100% ACC, no delay, Minigun – no delay
- Loadout changes: both teams – Assault(1246), Grenadier(1235), Sniper(120), Support(1239)
• Only Sniper has alt pistol ammo, only Grenadier has slugs - Removed Motion Trackers
- 5 Flares can now be picked up from green ammo boxes and Pulse Rifle Grenade pickups on SUK2
- New skins for most humans, N/A in MP to keep the vanilla character visibility (because Friendly Fire is on and Name Tags are off on VRM servers)

Predators
- Wristblades
– [Primary Attack]: always double swipe animation, +ACC, no attack delay
– [Alternative Attack]: completely charged attack reliably kills anything up to a fully armored human or a Predalien - Combistick
– [Primary Attack]: always double swipe animation, DMG 360>300, +ACC
– [Alternative Attack]: target is hit when the spear head moves through the crosshair (not when the swipe animation is over – vanilla), +ACC - Predator Pistol
– [Primary Attack]: DMG 250>100 (only effective on direct hits), SPD 1600>4500, no decloak
– [Alternative Attack]: DMG 150>50 (only effective on direct hits), SPD 1600>4500, no decloak - Speargun – ammo: spawn – 9, pickups – 9, max – 18, added projectile trails
- Shoulder Cannon – DMG 500 (only effective on direct hits), FR 0.467s>1.5s, SPD 1200>4500, no alt fire, no auto targeting, no decloak
- Disc – less visible trail, no auto targeting, no decloak
- Netgun – ammo: spawn – 2, pickups – 1, max – 3
- Remote Bombs – ammo: spawn – 2, pickups – 1, max – 3, added projectile trails, explosions are blue

Singleplayer
- AI tweaked, more aggressive and challenging, tested only on Hard mode, so I suggest playing on Hard mode with saves by default and on Hardcore (which is now Hard mode without saves) for more of a challenge, you can still play on Normal or Easy difficulty if you wish
- Flamethrower doesn’t set AI on fire, because AI died as soon as it caught fire, higher direct damage
- Alien Drones can no longer lose their limbs
- Some adjustments to stop/minimize the Marine player from clipping slightly through the walls, especially sloping ones, which sometimes caused the AI to freeze in place, including the Queen
- Added Ayleia’s fix for single player crash (with her permission), there is no need to add AVP2SPFIX.rez to command line if your campaign used to crash in previous VRM versions
How to download, install and play VRM mod?
Learn how to install VRM mod in few easy steps:
1. Go to VRM’s ModDB site – https://www.moddb.com/mods/vanilla-rebalance-mod/downloads/vrm-v134
2. Click red bar tagged “Download now”:
3. Extract contents of downloaded folder.
4. Open VRM v1.34 Installer.exe. (or go to “Non-Exe Installation” folder and read quick install instructions)
5. Installer will detect the path to your AVP2 game folder. If the path is correct, click “Next”.
6. Installer adds mod file to your game directory and adds VRM shortcut to your desktop – clicking on it will open AVP2 with VRM mod installed.
